LSC-R #003

LSC-R #003 belongs to Brian Zalner of Maryland. Brian brought us his car for the LSC-R transformation, follow along as we go through the process. We are currently updating this page so check back for additional pics and info.

This is Brian's car when he first brought it to us. A very nice condition 1990 LSC Special Edition with black interior.

The reason Brian first contacted us was to install a new engine since his original one had been overheated and was tired. What started out as a short block replacement ended up with us putting together a combination that would be ready for a supercharger when he was ready for one.

The original engine although fairly clean for its age was done.

This is the engine we put together for Brian prior to installation. Brian had already acquired the short block which was a .030 over 302...what most refer to as a 306. We picked up a set of ported Edelbrock performer heads, a Lunati blower grind cam, GT-40 intake port matched to the heads, 65mm throttle body and 1.7 Cobra Rockers from a local guy who was stepping up his combination. We knew the car and this combo was a nice one which would be great for a Vortech supercharger down the road and the deal on the parts could not be beat....so we went from a simple bottom end replacement to a fire breathing combo under the hood!

Brian had already had a 5 speed conversion done elsewhere but there were a couple of issues that had to be addressed. The first was the console plate....he wanted something that looked factory so we built him this plate. The second issue was a bad vibration due to an incorrect pinion angle.

After we installed the engine, we took it down to Dan at Specialty Exhaust in Dunkirk, Maryland for our signature Exhaust treatment.

Here is the engine after installation. We did a mass air conversion and used 24lb injectors and MSD ignition. We used the Pro-M Optimizer to fine tune everything.

We went with the same wheel combo as LSC-R #001 and used the Motorsport 17 X 9 Cobra R wheels with 275/40 17s in the back and 255/40 17s up front.
