1998 SVT F-150

This is our 1998 SVT F-150 project truck.....We hated the standard front end on this truck and loved the '01 Lightning front end when it came out so it seemed perfect to start with. We chose "SVT F-150" as a name since it is not a Lightning and we didn't want to pass it off as one and the "SVT F-150" Tailgate badge fit perfectly on the fenders

This is our 1998 SVT F-150 project truck.....We hated the standard front end on this truck and loved the '01 Lightning front end when it came out so it seemed perfect to start with. We chose "SVT F-150" as a name since it is not a Lightning and we didn't want to pass it off as one and the "SVT F-150" Tailgate badge fit perfectly on the fenders. The Lightning is a great package but many people need more in the way of space as did we, so we chose the Extended cab platform. We started our modifications with '01 Lightning headlights and marker lights....then we moved on to the Third brake light and used the LED unit from the Lightning as well. Then we assembled all the needed parts to do the front bumper cover and grill. Next came the 18X9.5" Lightning wheels but now the truck sat too high for the low profile tires. Next we dropped the truck using a Bell Tech lowering kit, this dropped the front end 3" and the back 4" giving the truck an even lowered stance. We do a lot of towing with this truck and the factory shifting left a lot to be desired so we installed a Superchip which gave us much better shifting along with a bonus of 26HP and 40ft/lbs of torque. At the same time we installed an Air Raid Cold Air induction kit. The exhaust system has also been upgraded to true duals using Flomaster for the muffler duties

Our plans in the near future are to eliminate the factory tan at the bottom of the truck and paint it the matching green, we are also going to go body color with the mirrors and rear bumper. Modifications that are up next will be a complete set of Koni shocks and a Stage II brake upgrade using Stillen cross drilled rotors and Metal Matrix brake pads

Our newest set of upgrades include a set of Koni shocks, and 12" cross drilled rotors, with metal matrix pads.  When towing, stopping should be a BIG consideration.
