1984 Mustang SVO: Another one saved from the scrapyard!

We all see or hear about  it happening every day, another rare SVO Mustang gets parted out because its worth more in parts to someone who is out to make a buck, these are the vultures of the SVO community who don't care about preserving these cars, many times these vultures are seen parting out many SVOs at once. Other times you see them in a junkyard or pick-n-pull yard because some previous owner either didn't know what they had or just didn't care.
There are a very few Mustang parts dealers out there who supply used SVO Parts, a fact of economics and survival means that there will be a few SVOs parted out, the Majority of these dealers use good judgment and only part out the basket cases.
We perhaps go to the extreme of saving the SVOs, we try to find cars that are destined or about to become parts cars and put them back together so that someone else can enjoy this great car. The idea is to get the car out of the hands of someone who does not appreciate it for what it is and to put it into the hands of someone who does. To date we have saved 5 such cars from extinction, each car will eventually have its own page here on our site like this one. Below is an '84 Mustang SVO that we picked up from Scott Wise in Pennsylvania, Scott is a true SVO Enthusiast and did have the time or resources to finish this SVO (which he bought wrecked). He did not want it to go to one of those Parts Vultures and we contacted him with an interest in saving this car. Follow our progress below:

Picking up the car.......

This is where the SVO had been sitting for the last year. Due to family commitments and starting a new business of his own, Scott thought it best to let someone else tackle this project and he would look for another SVO again in the future. The car had been on jackstands in the air for the past year, intentions of restoration were there but sometimes there are other priorities in life that come first.

We had some trouble with the left rear wheel being frozen while trying to get it out of the garage, we dragged it this far and then tried to break it free....we were successful.

Lee Clary and Scott Wise bring out some of the parts that had been removed from the car.

Here is Lee with his turn as the "Come-along" operator, due to the rear wheel being frozen, the car was hard to push so we had to coax it up on to the trailer this way.

Lee cries out "I Gotta have this for my own collection!"

Former owner, Scott Wise, Stands by his car for one last picture happily knowing that one day, he will see this car back on the road again rather than parted out.

Lee stands next to the car saying "You know you are going to buy me lunch for this...don't you?"

Everything is tied down and secure...ready for the trip back to Maryland. Lee give the thumbs up that everything is tight.

We arrive safely back home with another project.

Sitting with some of the parts we have collected to repair it waiting for us to get around to fixing it.

Currently, the car is back from the Body shop and the new front inner fenders and core support have been installed and the front end checked to be sure it is straight. Now we can start to put this car back together.

Current Status

This SVO has changed ownership once again and now belongs to Eric Crouse who recently moved to West Virginia from Maryland. Eric's new home is equipped with a garage where this SVO has now taken up residence. Eric has just about everything needed to complete this project and is currently working on restoring her to her former glory. Our goal with this SVO was to save it from becoming parts, so we repaired the unibody and began looking for a new home for her which we found with Eric. Eric caught the SVO bug back in '98 when he attended the first SVO Reunion in Tennessee. As soon as Eric sends us some pictures we will update this page.......

Has ANYONE seen Eric Crouse???....It seems as though he vanished after picking up the SVO! He was on his way home and we never heard from him again.....we hope everything is alright!
